Getting started in business will require you to analyze several components of your business idea and complete a series of steps prior to start-up.  This section will provide you with a listing of various resources that outline these steps and provide insight into the process of starting your own business.

  • Starting A Small Business in Ontario - Government of Ontario guide to starting a small business
  • Guide for Canadian Small Business - Canadian Customs and Revenue Agency's information guide on taxation and record keeping requirements for small business.
  • The Entrepreneurship Centre - The Ottawa Entrepreneur Centre offers on-line resources for entrepreneurs
  • Entrepreneurial Self Assessment - Here is a tool to help better measure your entrepreneurial potential. This questionnaire includes 50 statements, and will take about 15 minutes to complete.
  • Youth Employment Services Montreal  -  Resources for youth pertaining to Entrepreneurship.
  • Canadian Innovation Centre - The Canadian Innovation Centre (CIC) is Canada's leading organization dedicated to assisting Inventors and innovative companies. Their range of services includes evaluation, technology due diligence, market research, and education programs.
  • Canadian Intellectual Property Office - The Canadian Intellectual Property Office offers information on patents, trademarks, industrial designs and copyright protection.
