Co-Ops and Health and Safety News

In November 2014, the government passed Bill 18, Stronger Workplaces for a Stronger Economy Act, 2014. The Bill amends a number of Ontario's labour employment statutes, with meaningful changes including the expanded definition of worker to ensure Occupational Health and Safety Act coverage for unpaid co-op students and other unpaid learners, which will give them protection under the OHSA such as the right to know about workplace hazards and the right to refuse unsafe work.

Co-Op & Internships

As a business owner, you may come across the need to hire someone for a temporary project or specific area of the business on a part-time or full-time basis. A cooperative education student or intern from a local high school, college or university is a great way to achieve this and provide valuable opportunities for young people that they will use in future professional paths.
